Eagle Ridge Elementary is pleased to announce the new school-wide Reading Incentive Program called Peace, Love, and Reading! The main focus of this program is to encourage the students to read interesting, challenging books and reward them for their effort. PTA and Accelerated Reader (AR) are teaming up for this year’s incentive program for grades 1-5. Students will select and read a book from the list provided on www.arbookfind.com, take a book review at school and earn points for completing the book. Points are predetermined by AR and based on reading level. Parents have the ability to monitor their child’s progress in AR. Parents may login using their child’s username and password at https://hosted258.renlearn.com/65099/HomeConnect/Login.aspx (you will need to copy and paste this link into your web browser) Each child will take a brief inventory, called STAR, to determine his or her reading level range. This level will be used as a guide to help find books at your reading child’s level. You may get this personalized information from your child’s teacher. Below is a list of prize levels for each grade. Prizes will be awarded based on level achieved. ![]() In addition to www.arbookfind.com, your child can find AR books within our Media Center by using a new web-based library system called Destiny Quest. This program allows you to access the Eagle Ridge on-line catalog from any computer with Internet access. You can view the catalog from home, in the media center, or in the classroom. You may also see if the book your child wants to check out has an Accelerated Reader quiz. To access the system, go to http://destiny.browardschools.com and follow the link to Eagle Ridge. Students have already been assigned a sign-in name and password for AR. Please check your child’s agenda or your child’s teacher for login details. We hope you will take some time to explore these sites. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact your child's teacher at 754-322-6300.
